Managing Director and CEO
Common Bond Capital Partners, LLC
Bill Huck

Bill Huck’s national experience underwriting municipal bonds and resolving distressed bond issues led him to co-found Common Bond Capital Partners, LLC in January 2012 to help provide solutions for the more than $5 billion in existing or threatened land-secured municipal bond defaults across the U.S. During a 30 year career in municipal finance, Huck built a remarkable record during the 1990’s real estate recession when he successfully pioneered the California bond industry’s efforts to develop reformative and innovative workout strategies and statutory tools to resolve the period’s major bond defaults while restoring tax-delinquent properties to the productive tax rolls.

As founder of S&Y Capital Group in 1996 at a time when more than $1 billion land-secured bonds in California were in default, he successfully restructured approximately two dozen defaulted or challenged bond issues in major metro areas (San Diego, Los Angeles and Long Beach), rapidly growing cities (Palmdale, Fontana and Poway) and smaller communities (Yuba City, Scotts Valley and Ione). Working closely with the affected local governmental agencies, S&Y Capital Group resolved bond defaults through coordinated efforts to add value to the land while reducing tax and bond liens that blocked development progress. The impressive returns generated from several principal investments made following the early 1990’s recession inspired Huck to create Common Bond as a workout and investment platform for the challenges and opportunities of today.

Prior to founding Common Bond Capital Partners, Mr. Huck was a Managing Director at Stone & Youngberg LLC, a San Francisco-based investment bank that successfully merged into Stifel Nicolaus in October 2011. Throughout his career as a public finance banker and member of the firm’s Executive Committee, Huck helped guide Stone & Youngberg to 25 consecutive years as the Number One-ranked underwriter of California municipal bond issues. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and a Master’s in Business Administration from Stanford University. Between terms of study at Stanford, he served seven years as a U.S. Navy pilot.
